A really good hairdresser is not only an expert stylist- he or she
will listen carefully to you, the client. A free consultation is offered
initially to find out your lifestyle- whether for instance, you travel
regularly for work, you work in an office or out in the field, therefore
avoiding complicated hairstyles. Above all an expert hairdresser will look
closely at your hair type and condition and advise you on both its potential and
its limitations. Facial shapes are very important if you have an oval shape
face, you very are lucky. Any style will suit you.
A top hairdresser whose work you have admired in a magazine photograph is not necessarily going to be the right one for you.
A caring hairdresser will try to dissuade you from a drastic change of style or colour that would be wrong for you, which could be both expensive and bitterly regretted.
A long face is best complemented by a short hairstyle that has fullness and softness on the face. Do not go for long hairstyles that will accentuate the length of your face.
Take your time to get to know a new hairdresser. Recommendations are sometimes the way to test the waters. However, have nothing more than a trim and set or a blow dry on your first visit.
Choose somewhere with an atmosphere you like, the staff are friendly and where the décor and music suit your mood. You should feel relaxed and comfortable to establish a good rapport with your hairdresser.
It is important that you are punctual for your appointment and if you are kept waiting refreshments are offered and an apology given for the delay.
Choose somewhere, where brushes, combs, towels and capes are absolutely clean. There is nothing less appetising than filth.
If you enjoyed your first visit and look and feel good you may well have found a winner. Remember a visit to the salon should be a treat, not a chore and you the client will only feel confident after the hairdresser has repeated results and understanding of your hair.
